At the Institute, we train psychotherapists to work with the depth and rigor that Adler’s original theory demands, while also equipping them to meet the pressing demands of an ever more complex world.

We preserve the legacy of Alfred Alder
Adler's original theoretical vision was partly lost in the decades after his death — absorbed into approaches that simplified or redirected it. We are engaged in an ongoing recovery: translating original texts, building an accurate historical record, and ensuring the classical tradition remains alive and teachable.

We situate our work within the broader history of depth psychology — understanding Adler not in isolation but as a distinctive voice in a global conversation that continues today.

We honor our classical lineage
The Alfred Adler Institute in Suisse Romande traces its lineage directly to Alfred Adler himself — through Henry Stein, whose 30-year collaboration with one of Adler's own students, Sophia DeVries, produced the translations and training framework our founders inherited.
We are not values-neutral
From the most intimate clinical encounter to the broadest social context - we actively promote one for and with another.
Adler understood that psychology divorced from social responsibility is incomplete. He stood against war, poverty, racism, and every force that diminishes human dignity and pits one person against another. So do we. Gemeinschaftsgefühl - genuine social feeling, one for and with another — is not an aspiration for us. It is the foundation of everything we teach.
